How AI-Algorithms Help Streaming Platforms

Adoption of the streaming platforms for entertainment is increasing rapidly and AI is immensely helping points for these platforms to stand out in the video streaming market. From video indexing to the discovery of content, AI is turning into a giant in making things more customized to the audience. This helps the marketers to learn the behavior of the audience and later on helps in improving the quality for the end users. AI technologies elevate the personalized experience on the platform and help OTT providers to stand high in this competitive market.

As per Allied Market Research, the OTT market has the potential to reach approximately $1,039.03 billion by 2027 making it a huge market in the near future. This shows the potential of the platform and with the use of AI, gaining audiences becomes quite easy.

How AI Is Transforming The Streaming Experience?

AI has turned into a compulsion for the OTT providers to manage and get the data of the platform organized efficiently. AI is helping streaming platforms in many ways. It is in short helping in enhancing the experience of the audience. Some of the key points that are helping these platforms transform for good include:

Personalized Experience To the Audience

Netflix research presents that if the search exceeds around 60 to 90 seconds, the viewers lose interest and move on to the next platform. Streaming providers can use AI to get the behavioral data about the views and hyper-optimize the recommendation to improve the experience.

Faster Video Indexing

AI has become a smarter way to search and index speech and metadata from videos, therefore, increasing the accessibility of the content to the end users. Using the AI-based indexing of the video content, it becomes possible to get the specific content request fulfilled in no time. Faster searchability and availability of content improve the experience of the end users.

Uninterrupted Viewing Experience

Streaming required a massive amount of data transfer each second. Here interruptions are bound to come while delivering the content to the end users. AI techniques can help streaming platforms tackle the traffic and deliver the content to the users.

Intelligent Encoding

With the use of AI algorithms, encoders can step further and provide the content in the smallest size without compromising the quality of video content. Machine learning makes it all automated rather than a manual process. With it, it becomes easy to provide the bitrate for the bandwidth for quality video delivery.

In a nutshell, streaming platforms are growing at an incredible pace. To stand high in this cut-throat competition, Quality of Experience and content can help the platform providers not lose their current viewers.

AI/ML is making the entertainment interaction smarter and quicker and therefore making the overall viewing experience memorable. With every technological development, there are many opportunities arrive to make the end-user experience better and more memorable. This all shows that AI will continue to help the streaming industry and streaming platforms in transforming the end-user experience. There will be a future when AI technology will be used more sophisticatedly in the video streaming industry.

Google Releases Lyra V2: A New Audio Codec

Lyra V2- A New Audio Codec

Google has recently released a new codec named Lyra V2, a better, faster, and more versatile speech Codec. The architecture of the new Lyra V2 brings scalable bitrate capabilities, provides better performance, provides wider platform support and generates a higher audio quality. With the release of Lyra V2, Google is trying to evolve with the community.

The Architecture Of Lyra V2

The latest release of the Lyra V2 is based on SoundStream, an end-to-end neutral audio codec. The architecture of the latest audio codec includes a residual vector quantizer Or RVQ which is present before and after the channel of transmission. RVQ quantizes the encoded content into a bit stream and thereafter reconstructs it at the decoder side.

This integration of RVQ into the codec infrastructure allows changing the bitrate of Lyra V2 at any time just by selecting the number of quantizers to use. To generate higher-quality audio more quantizers are used. This codec uses three different bitrates which include 3.2 kbps, 6 kbps, and 9.2 kbps which enables the developers to choose bitrates suitable for network conditions and other requirements. With this new architecture, the delay in the audio delivery is reduced from 100 ms from the previous version. It is most comparable to the most used codec Opus which has an approximate delay of 26.5 ms, 46.5 ms, and 66.5 ms.

This latest audio codec released by Google has the ability to encode and decode audio by 5x than the previous version. Apart from the speed and performance, the quality of the audio generated by this new audio codec has also improved. This model of V2 is exported in TensorFlow Lite. All this makes V2 a great alternative to other state-of-the-art audio codecs. It has the ability to be connected with more devices in bandwidth-constrained environments, making it an appropriate choice for higher audio quality requirements.
