DRM And End-To-End Video Encryption

Video content is prone to piracy. Most of the time videos are delivered to unauthorized users and give them access to content that has never been authorized to them. It does not give any credit to the original creator and makes it difficult to recognize and give credit to the one who has created the video. If you are in the market streaming, it becomes crucial to deliver end-to-end video encryption for the content delivered to the viewers.

Have you ever tried sharing any purchased content, say from Apple, Google, or even YouTube? Have you tried sharing them with your friends? Don’t do that, you will not be able to do that. This is all due to Digital Right Management which helps in encrypting the content over the digital platform. Creators, publishers, and authors use an application that encrypts the content, e-book, data, and other copyrighted material. Only a decrypted key can let you access the copyrighted material.

What Is DRM Video Encryption?

DRM is a way to make your digital content safe from any sort of theft or piracy. It is primarily a way to protect the content copyright in digital media. It requires technologies that help in limiting the access of the content to the authorized users. It allows publishers whether authors or video creators to get control over the content they are providing to the users. In short, it deals with the management of accessibility of the content to the authorized users.

DRM ensures security and provides the accessibility of the content to paid viewers only. There is a specific technology that helps in protecting the content and making it accessible to those who have attained the accessibility rights via a certain set procedure.

How Do Digital Rights Management Work?

DRM encryption encrypts the video file using the software. Furthermore, the authentication system ensures the security of the content. All this is done with the use of certain keys that decrypt the content and deliver it to the end-users. To understand it properly, consider a file as a scattered one that gets assembled when opened with a decrypting key. It stands out from other encryption like AES 128, RTMP E, and HSL E since it protects the original keys. It leverages the publisher to control the content they are providing to viewers.

Presently, DRM is the most crucial thing to get the security of your data. It includes codes that prohibit copying data, limit the time, and also limit the number of devices with which the user can access the content.

There are a number of ways to protect one’s content, product, and software. It leverages one to:

  • Prevent or restrict users from saving or editing the content
  • Prevent or restrict users from forwarding or sharing the content with others
  • Prevent or restrict users from getting a copy of the content or printing it
  • Disallow users from taking screenshots of the content
  • Set a limited time to access the content so that the user cannot get content after that limited time
  • Limit access to certain locations, IP addresses, and devices. So if the content is available only in India, then one cannot be able to access it in other countries.
  • DRM also allows publishers to access a log of people when certain content, media, or software is accessed. It is a basic need in this digital world.

Benefits Of DRM

Digital rights management gives you the ability to share your file or data but also leverages you to manage the control over the content and what can be done with the content. There are a number of benefits that the DRM provides which includes:

  • It educates users about intellectual property and copyright. With DRM in the loop, brands and companies can inform users what they can do in their subscription capacity and what they can’t with respect to the copyrighted content.
  • It helps in making better-licensing policies. DRM technology is aimed at restricting the user’s interaction with the content.
  • DRM helps authors to get ownership of their creations. Copying and pasting the content and rebranding it as your own is quite common these days. DRM makes it possible for the creators to get credit for the content.
  • DRM is quite a strong tool to protect your income stream. Creators spent a huge amount of money on the creation of their videos in the hope of getting better ROI in the future.
  • It is also helpful in securing confidential files and keeping them protected from any unauthorized use.

The digital platform opens up a whole new realm of sensitivity to a security breach. In the present digital world, DRM has turned into an imperative need to safeguard all information over the digital world. Keep your content authentic and protect it from any unauthorized accessibility.

Google Releases Lyra V2: A New Audio Codec

Lyra V2- A New Audio Codec

Google has recently released a new codec named Lyra V2, a better, faster, and more versatile speech Codec. The architecture of the new Lyra V2 brings scalable bitrate capabilities, provides better performance, provides wider platform support and generates a higher audio quality. With the release of Lyra V2, Google is trying to evolve with the community.

The Architecture Of Lyra V2

The latest release of the Lyra V2 is based on SoundStream, an end-to-end neutral audio codec. The architecture of the latest audio codec includes a residual vector quantizer Or RVQ which is present before and after the channel of transmission. RVQ quantizes the encoded content into a bit stream and thereafter reconstructs it at the decoder side.

This integration of RVQ into the codec infrastructure allows changing the bitrate of Lyra V2 at any time just by selecting the number of quantizers to use. To generate higher-quality audio more quantizers are used. This codec uses three different bitrates which include 3.2 kbps, 6 kbps, and 9.2 kbps which enables the developers to choose bitrates suitable for network conditions and other requirements. With this new architecture, the delay in the audio delivery is reduced from 100 ms from the previous version. It is most comparable to the most used codec Opus which has an approximate delay of 26.5 ms, 46.5 ms, and 66.5 ms.

This latest audio codec released by Google has the ability to encode and decode audio by 5x than the previous version. Apart from the speed and performance, the quality of the audio generated by this new audio codec has also improved. This model of V2 is exported in TensorFlow Lite. All this makes V2 a great alternative to other state-of-the-art audio codecs. It has the ability to be connected with more devices in bandwidth-constrained environments, making it an appropriate choice for higher audio quality requirements.
