Google and Comcast NBCUniversal have risen as the frontrunners to help streaming platform Netflix to roll out its ad-supported tier in the coming years.
Netflix will positively debut the AVOD segment at the end of this year. According to the report by Wall Street Journal. Google and NBCUniversal will probably help the streaming giant with the technology to pull off its new monetization model.
According to the report, NBCUniversal’s partnership would be exclusive with the streamer. The streaming platform will use FreeWheel, a video ad unit of Comcast. At the same time, NBCU’s team would be tapped to help sell ads in Europe and the U.S.
While on the other side, Netflix could take advantage of Google’s ad-serving technology. It will help in making their pre-existing relationship strong.
Yet the formal confirmation awaits. It will be interesting to see the changes in the coming time.
